These are some recent photos from a shoot at waveland. I have to say I love these photos for so many reasons. First of all they sweet little girls that I know well. But as I was proofing their photos I just melted at the idea of having a sister. Wow, a best friend to follow you all your life. I think that during this time of season, we think alot about the gifts we give, but it is really more about the relationships we are taking care of in our own lives. And I was just really moved looking at these photos, and thinking about how great it is for them that they have each other, as friends and sisters.

This is my little helper. She loved helping mommy rake some leaves, and had an even better time playing in them! What a gorgeous pile of fall leaves we collected, red, yellow, orange, and brown. There is something so magical about fall, I just wish it could last longer! Anyway, my daughter giggled so hard, when we jumped into that pile of leaves, it just made me think about how there is no toy on earth that can produce that kind of laughter. Its the deep satisfied laugh of a child spending time with her parent, and having fun! I sure do love that baby!

So, its that time of year again, when the weather begins to cool off, and the days begin to settle into winter. I took this photo of an apple tree at Jackson's Orchard, a few weeks ago. There is something so calming about being surrounded by all kinds of wonderful apple trees, and pumpkins! It also makes me think of one of my all time favorite characters in a book, Anne of Green Gables. I can just see her sitting on a hill in Avonlea, looking down on a great big field of apple trees, and contemplating how majestic it all is. "Its just that I went looking for my ideas outside of myself. I discovered it's not what the world holds for you, its what you bring to it. The dreams dearest to my heart are right here." -Anne of Green Gables

I can not begin to tell you how great this cake was, from a recent Wedding. The flowers were so realistic, so it was hard to cut in and eat them, but we did our best! Oh, the hardships of photographing a Wedding! Seriously, when you see a cake this nice , you realize how much artistry goes into one single cake, and then we haven't even mentioned the grooms cake! It was so cute..and delicious! I will try and get the lady's website that made it and post that later for those of you looking for a great cake maker!

We recently got back from our family vaction to Sweden, and while I was there I had the chance to hang out with the daughter of a friend of mine. The above picture, we took in a field and had a ton of fun. But this moment... I love..simply standing there soaking up the sun. I can remember that age... and the things that you notice more on a fundamental level. Just hanging out with her, and taking some photos, was like getting to go back to that time and place, even for just a few hours. It also made me aware that my own daughter will reach this age much sooner than I think,,, and I wonder how she will be,,her likes, and dislikes. What will the world look like to her. I really hope she can find the sunshine... no matter where she is standing in life. And I think that is true for all of us... because sometimes..you have to just stand still and feel the earth, and remember we are all given this chance every day to notice our surroundings.

The Perfect day of B's
Sounds a little strange, but I had the most wonderful time last weeek and everything seemed to revolve around something that began with B. First, my Best friend in the whole wide world, took off work and picked me up in her cute PT crusier. So, we put the Baby in the Back seat , and headed out for some random Back road driving. We did this alot her her son, so its only fair my daughter gets a few of these little trips.
The day was absolutely beautiful,,one that makes you so glad to be here on earth and just present in your life. So, we came up on some of the Amish community... and I managed to get a nice shot of this Buggy (no people, have to respect their beliefs). Supper exicted about that, it was picture perfect.
Then after some driving we got some lunch at a near by gas station,, deli-bologna sandwich..its the best! And it was off to our greatest find.... a backroad, winding down a road to an open field. And in the middle of this vastness,,, Heather, my best friend, say's.... "look butterflies". And indeed it was,,, there we were surrounded by this little miracle all of our own... butterflies, everywhere, all around us.
We ended the trip with some shopping at an Amish store, where I got the cutest bonnet for my daughter. And so we had a perfect day of b's. Backroads, buggies, bonnets, bologna, babies, best friends, and butterflies. It truely is the little things that make a life print on your heart and stay with you as memories.
Thanks, Heather!!! D

Found this saying today: "Be your own work of art. Cultivate friends, passions, a distinctive style. Learn, dare, and grow. Beauty is the bonus of a well-lived life." unknown.

One of my favorite things to do is go thru the book section at Wal-mart. Picking up a book and getting lost in the pages, is my version of a "mini take your mind on vacation break." At any rate, on my last mini vacation thru a Better Homes and Garden issue, I was drawn to an article about the Rockcastle River Trading Co. The magazine was filled with wonderful photos of a garden I would love to see,and what a surprise when I realized this is in Eastern Kentucky, and a very short trip for me. Amazing sometimes, all the little places you can just overlook. So, I ventured there with my mother, and it was a gorgeous place..and to see the pages of that magazine, become real life, was just neat! I even managed to spot their miniature horses in the back of the store. The River Company is owned by the Carloftis family, and son Jon has gardened for the stars. If you visit you will be greeted by Lucille, his elegant mother. She was very sweet, and seemed to fit perfect into the classy surroundings.. sitting there listening to Louy Armstrong. I just had to share this great find!
